Hourly to Salary Calculator
An hourly-to-salary calculator converts a wage paid per hour into the annual, monthly, and weekly income it works out to, based on how many hours you work per week and how many weeks per year you are paid. It also works in reverse, converting a target annual salary into the equivalent hourly rate. This is the calculation job seekers use to compare an hourly contract offer against a salaried offer on equal footing.

How it works

- Enter the wage or salary, hours worked per week, and paid weeks per year.
- Read the converted weekly, monthly, and annual (or hourly) figures.
Formula annual = hourlyRate × hoursPerWeek × weeksPerYear; hourly = annualSalary / weeksPerYear / hoursPerWeek
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert an hourly wage to an annual salary?
Multiply the hourly rate by hours worked per week, then by the number of paid weeks per year. At 40 hours/week and 50 paid weeks, $20/hour is $40,000/year.
Why 50 weeks per year and not 52?
A default of 50 accounts for roughly two unpaid weeks off. Adjust it to 52 if your pay does not deduct for time off, or lower if you take more unpaid leave.
How do I convert a salary to an hourly rate?
Divide the annual salary by paid weeks per year, then by hours worked per week. A $50,000 salary at 40 hrs/week and 50 weeks/year is $25/hour.
Does this account for taxes or overtime?
No. This tool converts gross pay between hourly and salaried forms only; it does not calculate tax withholding or overtime premiums.
Can I use a part-time schedule?
Yes. Enter your actual hours per week — the conversion works the same for 20 hours/week as it does for 40.
